HDMI detection disable

Hey guys,

I've discovered a workaround for this problem. Basically you can use a registry key to override the monitor advertising itself as an HDTV (by setting the number of EDID extensions to 0). Using the following steps, I am now getting proper 1920x1200 resolution on my LG monitor:

1. Start the installation of the latest Nvidia drivers and cancel out once the files are extracted
2. Open nv_disp.inf. By default for the current drivers this is in C:\NVIDIA\WinVista\169.25
3. In the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section add the following:

NOTE
The first 4 bytes (1E,6D,3F,56) in my OverrideEdidFlags0 are specific to the LG monitor I'm using. For other monitors, you will need to replace them. Using Phoenix EDID Designer, extract the current EDID and open up the byte viewer. The bytes are in byte 8 through 11.

4. Uninstall your current drivers and reboot
5. Install the modified drivers by running the previously extracted setup.exe. By default for the current drivers this is in C:\NVIDIA\WinVista\169.25. You'll get a warning about the driver not being signed because of the modified inf. Just press OK.

Enable/Disable Windows logo Key

[Start] [Run] [Regedit}
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
Modify/Create the Value Name [Scanmode Map] according to the Value Data Listed below.
Data type:REG _BINARY [Binary value]//Value Name: Scancode Map
Value Data: [00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 00 00]
exit and reboot

Folks here's how to DISABLE the Microsoft Office Genuine Advantage from appearing. With this hack, Windows still treat OGA as installed, and will not prompt user to install again.

1. Run Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe).
2. Press Ctrl-F to open search box, and search for "OGAAddin.connect" registry key. (Note: you can hit F3 key to scroll through the registry, look for only those with the Load Behavior entry)
3. In the right pane, right click on Load Behavior and select Modify.
4. Change the Hex value data from 3 to 0.
5. Repeat for each and every OGAAddin.connect found. You'll find one for each of the office products.

In most cases these will be the registry keys in which to modify Load Behavior:

I have acquired a new server computer. Its a socket 478 Celeron with a motherboard out of a dell dimension 2530. Not a bad computer. Good enough for what I want. Had minor problem taking it out of the dell case such as the power switch connectors not exactly matching up with the jumpers and the original heat sink cradle broke. Other than that, its practically a brand new computer from 2002. Only had 1 owner that only played on-line poker and bingo. I don't plan on setting it up too soon, but Im trying to get all the information I used from the previous server. I downloaded a few server programs such as Apache Web Server, FileZilla Server and Shoutcast server.
The processor is a pentium 4 grade celeron at 1.7 Ghz with 512 megs of ram (would like a gig).

NVIDIA drivers

The latest NVIDA drivers caused the nvidia folder to open up after every reboot. Here is a fix that worked for me.

If you have nwiz set to start up with windows, you could try the following: in the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If the data for nwiz is

C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nView\nwiz.exe /install

right click modify and add the double quotes:

"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nView\nwiz.exe" /install

Summer Time

Im deciding to put off starting any clan of guild, I'm still going to recruit people I usually talk to, just not any new people. I figure its summer time, and thats when clans hit their dead time cause everybody is out doing stuff and I do too so its not a good time. Plus I have a baby on the way due in July and thats gonna tie up most of my time. But, still do some activity if you don't mind, I know I will in my down time. I just don't want to do any major stuff. The best time for gaming clans is during the winter when its cold outside and every bodies computer runs at its best cause the temp outside. So, Until wintertime Homies...

Trying the clan thing again. Just trying to get everything put together before inviting a bunch of people. It has a Xfire site and a Forum site which will be linked at the bottom. Its not much, just something real simple. Get kinda tired of myspace and what not, I'd rather have my own community. Or at least try to have one. Surf down to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Double click on "PagedPoolSize". Hexadecimal is listed first. Change the "Value Data" to one of these below:
(Note: You only need to enter EITHER Hexadecimal or Decimal. They both are the same.)

I went with the 384Mb option and it worked perfectly.

Once you are done, make sure you reboot your computer.
